What factors have a positive or negative effect on your credit score?

If you possess a credit card in Canada or have received loans from financial institutions, you have what is known as “credit history”. Credit history is incredibly important and it is vital to ensure that you have a clear credit history. People with inadequate credit histories can face serious problems. These problems will show up every time they receive a loan, try to buy a house or a car, get a credit card, or even buy a telephone.
The credit history of each person is summarized into a number called a “credit score”. Your credit score is a number between 300 and 900. The closer your credit score is to 900, the clearer and better your credit history. A score higher than 750 is considered excellent and a score higher than 850 is rarely reached.
